Engagement & Wedding

We got engaged at home, 2 nights before our friends wedding...can you say Love is in the air?
It was a mutual want between the two of us. We had an incredible romantic candlelight dinner at home, 2 bottles of wine...Copper Moon Shiraz MY FAV

then by 2 am went to bed... that's where it all began.
In bed, he proposed...poured his heart out to me, we both had tears and it was the most intimate moment of my life. He knows me enough to know that I am not a public person, or want some flashy extravagant plan.
The way he did it was perfect!!

Ok...now engaged, what to do for the WEDDING??
                      And then the planning begins......ahhh!

Wedding Plan #1
Cabin on a lake up island!
Was to get married at his parents cabin on a lake, until that was just too difficult to accommodate the people we wanted there. Solar power and a water pump, and small space for our guests and too far away.

Wedding Plan #2
Mexico!
His parents offered to send us away to have a destination wedding/vacation...thought at first fantastic! And as great as destination weddings are, the complicated thing is that for me personally it was hard because I need my parents there, I need my best friend of over 20yrs there, I need my siblings there. These are not things I can do without. Its such a huge step in my life, it means everything to me to have the most close important people on my side to be there. A destination wedding means the only ones who were able to go were a few of my fiances friends, but none of my family. So a new plan...

Wedding Plan #3
Local Camping!
Local, outdoors, unlimited space and privacy! No rules! A private rural river side property with a ton of campsites for family and friends to park and pitch their tents. No guest limit, no complications!
There are portable pottys, showers being built on site this year, power to plug in our reception white string of lights, etc. We are renting some table and chairs, linen being lend by my friends wedding, and jars im collecting to place wild flowers and candles in for the tables. Burlap for table runners, white folding chairs, beer kegs, home made wine the inlaws made. There is a stage...music equipment included and provided, and for a band?...MY DAD! Him and his band, and myself if i get enough wine in me to get up without falling down. Yes ill pace myself haha. No no photographer, no limo, just pure nature!
This place is magical...I cant wait to get some good pictures of it to post the amazing spots, this place has so much character!

This is now the final plan! August 11th 2012!
This is the only picture I got at the moment.

UPDATE: May 31st 2013
Ok months later...im here finally returning to my blog I kind of forgot about hehe.
We chose...the camping wedding in Shawnigan Lake!
Its was great, other than my dad being so drunk he fell and broke his wrists, and our buddy was so wasted he stole his friends truck after we left and crashed it into some trees...but lets just say its a wedding not to forget and was still wonderful!! Our kind of wedding! Danced up a dust storm all night, even my underwear was dirty under my wedding dress...dusty dusty haha!
Good food, even though a wasp stung my husbands finger while serving himself some lasagna. The wasps were awful. Some friends of ours were upside down chugging out of the beer kegs, and we ran out of booze quite quickly I believe. It was a blast seeing my nephews boogy-ing away to the music and dancing with friends and family was fun!
My father walking me down the "aisle" of sticks and stones along the river.
We had an actual commissioner but also incorporated my Father in the ceremony with some "Mead" to drink (my husband had a full glass and I had a few drops being pregnant and all haha).

Husband & Wife

Our little cake I had ordered...just the way I wanted it! Cute & best tasting cake ive ever had!...We actually forgot to eat it at our wedding but we ate some of it at home a couple days later haha!

My bridesmaids!

My dad on stage about to rock some tunes! Tavin & Tayla here were dancing at the wedding too, kids had a great time!

My father who walked me down the aisle, here infront of a wizard carved tree with his two grandsons, my sisters boys: Tyler and Dylan.
